Back in the USSA!
The view from our dinner restaurant, Syren's in Poet's Cove last night... Not bad as we dined on the patio with this spectacular view over the marina.
In an uncanny display of lax standards, our Putin-approved police state of the USA has allowed us back in. But enough about politics...
Didn't the Beatles write a song about being back in the USSR? Seems similar.
The Sucia Islands are volcanic over what looks like limestone which gives the islands a really bubbly, carved-out scrapped look. Very interesting.
All the boats lined up on their moorings. Looks like someone has their ducks in a row...
A beautiful old schooner. A schooner has the shorter mast at the front.Dinner on the aft deck, aka cockpit. Very nice fennel sausage ravioli in a tomato-vodka-cream sauce.
Out for an evening dingy ride around the bay. This is an interesting dockless dock where you can tie-up your boat...
It wasn't exactly "Breakfast at Tiffany's", but rather "Breakfast at Aurora" at Poet's Cove, Bedwell Harbour, S. Pender Island, BC. This is the view from Aurora. Nice!
We jetted at a blistering 6 knots across Boundary Pass and into the USA, arriving at our anchoring spot for the evening. Echo Bay, Sucia Island, WA.Karen is working on getting the anchor bridle setup while I'm driving (mostly drifting, at this point).
Out for a dink ride this afternoon, between business meetings.

I like this restaurant!
Beautiful old yawl. A yawl has the short mast in the back which is aft of the rudder (steering wheel). I used to have a similar designed boat many moons ago. I think this looks like a Phil Rhodes design. We hoist Roe up to the "boat deck" with our crane (aka davit). Roe weighs about 1,000lbs fully kitted out. We are not picking her up by hand, no matter how many Wheaties we eat!
You can see the crane boom in this picture.
Yet another sunset photo. The Pacific Northwest is truly stunning. I'm so glad we live here, even if only for the summers (by far the best part...).

Tomorrow, we head to our home port of Anacortes (about 21 miles away) to prepare Blue Redd for the winter. That process makes us both very melancholy... We can hardly wait to do it again next year!
Good Night All.
The sunset pictures the last couple weeks have truly been spectacular! Thank you, photographer and author :)
ReplyDeleteSo when are you getting a vessel in Florida? It will certainly make the next 3 seasons go by more quickly if you have a way to explore new adventures afloat where you are.

Ps: welcome home!
Mid-August through September we are treated to really spectacular sunsets in the Pacific Northwest, along with mild temperatures and usually little rain. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteInsofar as a FL boat. We will definitely be getting one, but we haven’t yet figured out what we want to do on the boat. That decision would drive what type of boat and when. But I’m sure there will be one!
